Prevalence and Factors Influencing Exclusive Breastfeeding Practice among Breastfeeding Mothers in Kathmandu, Nepal

Introduction: Exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) for up to six months has several benefits children in reducing their morbidity and mortality. The objective of this study was find out the prevalence EBF practice its influencing factors.
 Methods: A cross-sectional survey conducted with 362 mothers attending selected health facilities Kathmandu district. Data were collected using structured questionnaires through a face-to-face interview. knowledge, attitudes, self-efficacy social support assessed by Iowa Infant Feeding Attitude Scale (IIFAS), Breastfeeding Self-efficacy Short Form (BSES-SF) Social Support (EBSSS) scales respectively. analyzed descriptive inferential statistics, SPSS.
 Results: practices 64.1%. higher proportion (99.2%) respondents had high breastfeeding, 95.3% positive attitudes toward EBF, 89.8% practices. determinant being Hindu religion (aOR 6.1, 95% CI, 2.23-16.58). determinants exclusive scale mother who did colostrum feeding 11.8, 2.29-61.14), institutional delivery 7.4, 2.21-24.54), school level education 3.6, 1.54-8.53). an unemployed 2.7, 95%CI, 1.40-5.07) aged 26 year-old below 1.7, 1.08-2.64).
 Conclusion: Findings reveal that attitude, towards but is still low, so it should be promoted having targeted intervention programs are at-risk groups. awareness integrated into existing immunization clinics give information about long-term benefits.
